A quick update on recent and upcoming events:
Three premieres in the next few months
- I will be at the University of Minnesota as part of The Call on Oct. 28. This project is a collaboration between The University Singers, British countertenor Ryland Angel, guitarist Nels Cline, and others. My new octavo — Wood Thrush — will premiered as part of that concert
- The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra has commissioned a new work for orchestra: Harmonies of Opposites will be premiered in Valletta at the historic Teatru Manoel under the baton of Miran Vaupotic
- And later in February Philadelphia standout vocalists Variant 6 will premiere a new commissioned work for 6 voices and electronics — Fall & Decline — in Princeton (2/16) and Philadelphia (2/18)
Two great reviews from the UK on my recent disc with The Crossing
- • Gramophone: “lively and affecting, full of exhilarating lines amid pungent details”
- • Planet Hugill: “beautifully crafted … with luminous harmonies, developing more complex textures… un/bodying/s is a fascinating piece”
A couple of upcoming CD releases
- Navona/Parma will be reissuing some of the tracks from Moonstrung Air on a new compilation featuring The Crossing, due out in Winter/Spring 2019
- conductor David Puderbaugh has recorded my Fabric of Streams and two Richard Wilbur settings with Estonian choir Voces Musicales. That disc is due out in Summer 2019
Lastly, I sat down for an interview recently with WWFM’s David Osenberg to talk about my work. That interview will air in late October
