Screensavers [cello + electronics]:
1. Moiré Idle & 2. Arabesque
Moiré Idle
The title is a reference to a screensaver that was popular in the early ’90s and which created moiré patterns from simple moving lines. The piece samples a live, four-minute, steady glissando to create an aural moiré pattern.
Arabesque
A newer screensaver, included with MacOSX.
Scores, ChucK patches, and technical specifications are available from the composer.
These works were written for cellist Kivie Cahn-Lipman, shown here rehearsing Arabesque.
